Change.org is searching for a Social Media Specialist, Canada to bring multi-channel social media expertise and build out Change.org’s social presence across Canada. The Specialist will help the team develop relationships with influencers and social-first outlets and create dynamic content, driving brand awareness and affinity across all audiences. As a key member of our Marketing and Communications team, you’ll own and grow Change.org’s social presence by creating viral, data-driven content, spotting timely moments to amplify campaigns, and leading best practices and skill-building across the team. You will report to our Communications Manager, Canada.

Key Outcomes:
Manage and grow active social media channels according to Change.org social brand guidelines. Potentially launch and grow new owned social media channels.
Create high-performance video and static social media posts about the Change.org brand and petitions on our site with the aim of content achieving virality and reach.
Create relationships and collaboration opportunities with influencers and social-first outlets to amplify Change.org content.
Be on top of compelling issues, Canadian and international news stories, and social media trends to identify the right moment to elevate campaigns through social. Use these moments to drive brand awareness and campaign impact.
Own the social content calendar and standardize best practices.
Upskill the team on core social media skills.
Utilise metrics to understand content performance and iterate for improvement.
The most important core competencies for the role are:
Strong social media experience and social media mindset, including:
creating impactful, viral visual and video content,
excellent writing skills,
working with and pitching collaboration opportunities to influencers,
developing social media strategies that grow followership and engage target audiences, and
using social media to build brand affinity
Proven track record of engaging audiences across platforms, especially TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
Ability to act as a steward for the brand and manage on-line brand-risks.
Skilled in turning quality content around based on a brief, while bringing their own creative flair through creative content sourcing.
Experience in contributing to the development of a social media strategy, with knowledge regarding best practices.
Ability to build relationships with influencers that will help drive Change.org engagement goals.
A good understanding of the Canadian news landscape, including coverage and trends from diverse political perspectives. Willingness to work across differences, including providing support to policy-compliant campaigns that you may not agree with but align with Change.org’s commitment to being an open platform.
Proficiency using editing tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
Solid AI experience
Ability to also create French language content is considered a strong asset.
Target experience:
5 or more years of experience working with social media, with a proven track record of growing social followings and increasing engagement with a brand.

This is a full-time remote role for folks in Canada.
Our compensation philosophy is based on pay equity. All of our salaries are determined before we launch a role – they are based on a predetermined salary scale, the level on that scale and the cost of labor for that location. The annual salary of a Social Media Specialist is $CAD 92,500 in Vancouver or Toronto, is $CAD 85,500 in Victoria or Calgary and is $CAD 84,500 for all other Canadian locations.
