About the Role

Are you passionate about public policy and its impact on healthcare innovation? As a Special Advisor – External Affairs, you’ll play a meaningful role in shaping how Siemens Healthineers engages with governments and key stakeholders across Canada. Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Government Affairs, you’ll help the organization navigate the public policy landscape while supporting growth, innovation, and patient‑centered care.

In this role, you’ll combine policy insight, relationship‑building, and strategic thinking to influence outcomes that matter—both for the business and for the healthcare system. This is a remote role based in Canada.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze and catalogue federal, provincial, and municipal policy developments and assess how they affect Siemens Healthineers’ business and strategic priorities

  • Help design and drive practical action plans to manage policy‑related opportunities and risks

  • Share clear, accessible insights on public policy with colleagues and bring teams together around external affairs initiatives

  • Represent Siemens Healthineers in conversations with government officials and public sector stakeholders on issues critical to our growth and innovation

  • Build trusted relationships with key opinion leaders, including industry associations, to strengthen and amplify the company’s policy voice

What you bring- required qualifications

We’re looking for someone who brings strong policy insight, strategic thinking, and a collaborative approach to advancing organizational priorities. You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy connecting policy, healthcare, and business impact—and communicating clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Minimum 7 years experience working in both the health sector and government (or substantial experience working at the interface between them)

  • Graduate degree in public policy, business administration, economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting federal, provincial, and municipal policies (including legislation/regulations and budget measures) and assessing impacts on business

  • A solid understanding of Canada’s health system and health-sector stakeholders (such as, ministries, agencies, providers, payers, associations) with the ability to link policy to market implications

  • A track record of turning policy signals into clear risk and opportunity assessments, scenarios, and actionable external affairs strategies.

  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry/health-sector leaders to advance organizational priorities

  • Strong executive-ready communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise briefs and deliver clear recommendations to senior leaders

  • Well-developed analytical skills, including experience with qualitative and quantitative research and evidence synthesis to inform decisions.

  • Cross-functional collaboration and program execution skills, managing multiple workstreams and aligning internal stakeholders

  • High degree of judgment and discretion when handling sensitive issues and reputational risk

The following experiences would be considered an asset and can help you stand out:

  • Intermediate or advanced French language skills

  • Experience with public opinion or stakeholder research

  • Global work experience or international academic training

The expected Compensation for this position is: $87,500 - $137,500 CAD

Factors which may affect starting compensation within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
